With the New Year, our German Organisation Announces Formation of New Advisory Boards
CEC European Managers‘ member in Germany, the United Leaders Association (ULA), has started 2025 by announcing the formation of new advisory boards.
These boards will shape the association’s strategic direction and enhance its influence on key leadership and management issues in political complexity and economic shifts in the EU’s largest economy.
The Big German Picture
In the third quarter of 2024, Germany‘s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) experienced a modest increase of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter. This follows a contraction of 0.3% in the second quarter, indicating a slight rebound in economic activity.
Projections for 2024 suggested a contraction of 0.1% in real GDP, marking the second consecutive year of negative growth following a 0.3% decline in 2023. This trend underscores ongoing challenges within the German economy.
December 2024 saw an inflation rate of 2.6%, up from 2.2% in November.
Analysts anticipate inflation will remain elevated in early 2025 due to rising CO2 emission costs and insurance service expenses.
However, the unemployment rate in Germany has remained relatively stable, averaging around 6% in 2024. This steadiness reflects a resilient labour market despite broader economic and social challenges such as the skills shortage.
In this context, leaders and managers in Germany are encouraged and called to facilitate transitions and provide solutions to both employers and employees.
As ULA’s President Roland Angst has recently stated, “Leaders and managers can take on several perspectives in one person, which makes them the ideal bridge builder within the company.”
Strategic Direction with Expert Guidance
The newly established advisory boards are designed to provide expert guidance on various critical topics that impact executives. ULA‘s advisory boards will serve as a think tank to address the complexities of modern executive challenges.
Each includes members with extensive experience and notable contributions in their respective fields, ensuring diversity and a broad spectrum of perspectives and innovative approaches.
Their focus will center on specific themes relevant to leadership, management, and policy development, with distinguished chairpersons leading the charge.

Their mandate includes advising on policy formulation, spearheading initiatives, and providing thought leadership to strengthen the German community of executives.
ULA will provide regular updates and outcomes from the new boards’ efforts and will share them with both ULA and CEC European Managers‘ members, ensuring transparency and engagement.
