The #BeyondBias campaign aims to equip managers across Europe with practical tools to recognise, understand, and mitigate their unconscious biases. In today’s complex and diverse work environments, such awareness is crucial for effective leadership and fair decision-making.
This latest recommendation stresses the urgent need for organisations to set unequivocal standards against all forms of discrimination, ensuring that workplace cultures actively promote equality and respect.
By empowering a non-biased management approach, organisations can better safeguard employees while setting a strong example of ethical leadership.
The #BeyondBias initiative is built on a solid foundation of academic research, with the 20 recommendations developed through a study conducted by the University of Southern Denmark.
The research was part of the broader Beyunbi (Beyond Unconscious Bias) project, an EU-funded project coordinated by CEC European Managers. The project investigated how unconscious biases impact managerial decisions and workplace dynamics, delivering evidence-based strategies to tackle them.
Speaking about the campaign, Torkild Justesen, CEC European Managers’ Secretary General, noted, “Managers are the bridge between employers and workers. By giving them the right tools and raising their awareness of unconscious biases, we strengthen fair and effective leadership across Europe.”
The #BeyondBias campaign is progressively rolling out its 20 recommendations, each addressing key aspects of inclusive leadership — from recruitment practices to internal communications.
This ninth recommendation underscores that diversity and inclusion are not just aspirational values but operational necessities for modern organisations.
