Key appointments at the European Transport Federation reinforce Italian and Spanish leaders
This morning, the General Assembly of the European Transport Federation / Federation Internationale des Cadres du Transport (FICT), one of the sectorial federations represented by CEC European Managers, was held at the headquarters of the Confederación de Cuadros y Profesionales (CCP) in Madrid.
FICT’s role as a member of CEC European Managers underscores its importance in representing the interests of transport leaders in the broader European social dialogue.
FICT is a critical sectorial federation operating within the framework of CEC European Managers in the transport sector. During the meeting at CCP, a new FICT executive committee has been elected.
While Italy has secured the presidency of the Federation of Transport Managers (FICT), Spain has reinforced its role and France will also hold a substantial executive position.
Carlo Mearelli, a seasoned manager with extensive experience in Italian and international markets, has been appointed the new president of FICT. This appointment marks a pivotal moment for Italy’s influence in shaping the future of European transport.
Federmanager, the Italian Federation of Managers (member of CIDA Manager), lauded the appointment of Mearelli, seeing it as a testament to Italy’s growing leadership in European industrial innovation.
“This is a significant milestone for Federmanager, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to driving innovation and development in the transport industry,” said Stefano Cuzzilla, President of Federmanager. “Carlo Mearelli‘s appointment reflects the recognition of the Italian efforts on the European stage.”
Under Mearelli’s leadership, FICT will tackle several pressing issues facing the European transport sector. Among these are improving the efficiency of ferry systems. Logistics and strategic infrastructure will also be focal points to streamline the continent’s transportation networks.

Among some of the key initiatives Mearelli will prioritize are integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into strategic industrial decision-making processes, and the Southern Europe Port Hub project. This initiative aims to rebalance north-south traffic flows across Europe and improve the continent’s overall logistics capabilities. This is a strategic effort, and it focuses on developing southern European ports and seeks to enhance its connectivity and competitiveness relative to the rest of the continent.
The Spanish member organisation of CEC European Managers, the Confederación de Cuadros y Profesionales (CCP) through its representative Carlos García (pictured second from the left) also assumed a key role within FICT. García will join the new executive.
As stated by our Spanish colleagues, Carlos García will continue his work at CCP, specifically as a member of the Financial Control Committee, while also taking on additional responsibilities within FICT.
His appointment marks a significant step forward for CCP within CEC European Managers, enhancing the Spanish engagement and leadership in the European confederation and towards the European institutions
