CIC at the International Labour Conference in Geneva
At the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Maxime Legrand shared the view of managers on the effects of COVID on the future of work and the action needed to ensure a human-centred recovery from the pandemic.
On June 16th 2021 Maxime Legrand, President of CEC European Managers and CIC International Managers, has taken the floor in the Plenary of the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), organized by the ILO in Geneva. The Conference, also known as the “international parliament of labour”, is the institutional body of the International Labour Organization in which representatives of workers, employers and national governments gather for a tripartite dialogue aiming at adopting international labour standards.
CIC International Managers, created in 1951 as the forerunner of CEC European Managers, is invited to participate in the works of the Conference. In his speech, Maxime Legrand expressed his view on how the pandemic has accelerated some tendencies that were already present in the evolution of the world of work, pointing out how sound policy initiatives are now required to move away from an emergency approach. Dialogue remains the core of policy-making in the employment domain, and managers – all over the world – need to be involved in every step of the process if our societies want to succeed the many challenges they will be faced with.
