rom June 25th to June 27th 2014, CEC European Managers together with its project partners Ledarna, Eurocadres and CFE-CGC organized the European coference of the EU project “Promoting Women’s Leadership”. More than 100 participants from different European countries gathered in Cannes to assist to the presentation of the first results of the two studies that represented the “core” of the project, aiming at investigating the reasons behind the low levels of female participation to the manageria workforce.
The first study focuses on the analysis of the current state of female representation in managerial positions and the effectiveness of both governmental initiatives and voluntary measures adopted at company level to increase the share of women occupying managerial positions. The second study is a compilation of case studies and best practices, adopted by six European companies of different sizes and business sectors: HR directors and female managers of each of these companies were interviewed on the company attitude towards gender diversity and integration, with a specific reference to business culture and examples of best practices adopted within the company.
Besides these two presentations, the Conference was the occasion to discuss the issue of female presence in managerial workforce from different perspectives, including an analysis of gender diversity from the point of view of cultural dilemmas, further examples of best practices adopted at company level and contributions of national and European social partners presenting their initiatives on gender equality.
A website entirely dedicated to the project and the Conference has been launched (www.womeninmanagement.eu*). All the presentations given during the conference and some pictures of the event are already available for download on the website.
