We stand for Women’s Leadership
Today is International Women’s Day, and CEC European Managers joins the European Commission‘s call to find mechanisms that facilitate equal opportunities and women’s leadership.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement. It raises awareness of issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
Spurred by the universal female suffrage movement, IWD originated from labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century.
Gender equality is a crucial topic in the European social dialogue. In that sense, in 2021, CEC European Managers published the document Mainstreaming Gender Equality in European Leadership, highlighting certain future shortcomings (and hopes).
This paper explored the relevant leadership details in Europe and was led by Ebba Öhlund, Treasurer at CEC European Managers, and responsible for fostering gender equality initiatives through our organization.
This year, CEC European Managers joins the requests of International Women’s Day by focusing on European managers and leaders, who are present in around 30% of EU enterprises.
A more equitable management team and a workplace with greater gender equality increase productivity, economic competitiveness, and decision-making quality.
